An Historian About... 3 March 2024
Hello again dear readers!
This week: a 2022 period drama review, a true Gilded Age story that will make your jaw drop, a suffragette princess, and more!
Happy Women’s History Month 2024! It is Women’s History Month in the UK and the US, so I celebrate it both in March, and in October for Women’s History Month in Canada. There are so many stories of women from the past who are largely forgotten, and I will be changing that. (Hopefully, at least!) You can find WHM content on my blog for all of March, as well as on my Threads and my TikTok.
In a stroke of luck, I’ve discovered period dramas that I’ve been waiting to watch across many services. (Including some on Kanopy, a free service offered through my library!) Luckily for you, that means many reviews on the way! (I have to say, out of the eight films I’ve watched in the last two weeks, it’s been a mixed bag.) Even though I constantly forget to do this, periodically check your various streaming services to see if anything has been added!
I’m happy to say, I am well and truly back into my reading habit. Unexpectedly, my goal of reading one new-to-me classic book each month has inspired me to do a lot more reading, both fiction and non-fiction. I have noticed that my reading tastes and slowly changing, though- I’m curious, has this happened to anyone else? There are some authors and series that I would read without a doubt that no longer pull me in. (It’s not all bad, it only means that I can give new authors and books a chance.)
I would love to know: do you have any historical fiction or non-ficton books from female authors that you are dying to recommend?
